This concept represents the wisdom that can arise from many people coming together to share their perspectives and sensemake into something more than any one of them can perceive alone.
Collective intelligence acts as a core driving question in thrivability. How do we come together and coordinate actions and assign resources and share work and benefits thereof? The support structures for small groups of humans seem to align most with our biological ancestry, and yet scaling that up loses the intimacy and subtleties necessary for responsible relationships.
A game of telephone always distorts. The pyramidal intelligence we have used for hundreds of years allowed us to scale to support more people under one united umbrella of sharing (however unfairly). Now, however, one of the challenges we face is how to leverage social technologies and digital technologies to support more useful forms of collective intelligence.
